Home — Afternoon tea/Special occasions — Tea pots/Coffee pots & cosies
Here is a superb figurative teapot from the Tony Wood Studios which, with Will Blandford as the main modeller, became famous for the range of novelty teapots such as this 'Master Piggy' that are so collected today. Tony Wood was a direct descendant of Ralph Wood of Wood and Son Staffordshire[established potters since late 18th century] and he established his own pottery between 1980 and the early to mid 90's. The pig's head comes off as the lid and his body is dressed in a white shirt and jacket smartened up with a red bow tie. At the rear he has a cute curly tail. This fabulous item will appeal to teapot and pig collectors or make an unusual gift. Marked to the base with H J WOOD ENGLAND MASTER PIGGY TONY WOOD [in black under the glaze]. There is one other 'L' shaped mark.
