1930S BLACK VELVET ZARDOZI WITH SEMI PRECIOUS STONES EVENING BAG
Dating to the 1930s is this black velvet bag embellished with semi- precious stones and Zardozi embroidery in silver and gold thread.The semi-precious carnelians are various colours consisting of 4 pearly white, 8 purple to red and 6 pinkish brown.The black velvet has been hand-stitched onto black silk to line the bag.One embellished part of the bag acts as a flap with a popper stud underneath for fastening.The black silk interior is separated into a large open pocket and a small one. The large opening has two
smaller pockets for a compact and powder puff and a third pocket suitable for a mirror.The bag strap is hand stitched rolled velvet.
